RESIDENCE IN 2,702 Caer Glaem and his watchtower on the Cathraon Plains (and a key to a house in Maupertius, but few people know about that.)
SUMMARY At the beginning of the timeskip, Charles helped the Seelie forces at the Battle of An Càrn Dubh by recreating the image of the fallen dragon Sura and using his telepathy to spread dissent among the Unseelie ranks and dissuade people from fighting. The suffering of the people around him and the extent to which he pushed himself (while using his shard) took a large toll on him, especially when he called out to Erik Lehnsherr for help after being shot.
On the one hand, it encouraged the two mutants to mend a rift they'd only skirted over, which is tied to Charles deeper issues (see: information). On the other, he started to realize that winning in the Drabwurld wasn't going to be quite like what it was back home.
In the following year, Charles focused on socialising and gaining a reasonable amount of influence and power within the Seelie Court. He took on a quest from Lancelot and chased off Unseelie soldiers from the borders of Glaschu. Along with better exploring his telepathy, he was booned astral projection, and in the latter half of the year began to explore the magical potential his shard lent him (which can account for the months that aren't listed below.)
By the end of the timeskip, he'll have finished construction of his watchtower on the Cathraon Plains and will be implementing his skillset to become the spymaster for Marchioness Hermione Granger.

I do not have magic, so to speak. I can work a kind of magic but if I forgot the verse...if the verse did not wish to work for me, it would not. I am only an instrument.
Are you a studier of magic, then?

[Although it was it was different depending on the world, which he concedes with - ] Of course there are so many traditions coalescing here, it's a very broad field. I was interested in finding out the similarities and the differences. And if it's something I could hope to do.

[She does muse on the thought of having powers. If she can't call a verse, she can't use an ability. What if something was constantly at her disposal?]
It seems my magic chooses who might use it but I doubt it is specific to my world and certainly those who are not Frenchmen have discovered it. I could, perhaps, offer a demonstration?
[Though she needs to use it for something like keeping warm, she supposes.]
sorry for the lateness :x
[He'd like to think it'll be the same for his kind of mutation, one day.]
Yes, of course. [And if she warms herself in the process, then all the better.]

[Seeing as she has them. It would be dreadfully difficult to hide something like that. Lia glances away from him a moment, extending her fingers away from herself.
She whispers a psalm. Not with any real conviction, but with purpose. Words glow on her skin, run over her arms like water and drop to the ground, melting the snow and racing toward the small fire, making it roar to life once more.]

When the words appear, he let's out a delighted laugh, teeth gradually halting in their chatter the bigger the fire grows.] Oh, that's splendid. So - do you ask for something specific, or - ? [He's bursting to ask a dozen questions, but manages to contain himself.]
no subject
[So yes. She asked it for the fire and it obeyed.]
They do other things but I am more inclined to stick with the familiar. Is that like your mutations?
no subject
No. My sister, for example, can shapeshift into anyone. Her cells - what makes up her body - is highly unique. Because those parts can change so easily, it gives her other benefits. She ages slower. And a student I once had could produce bursts of fire from his body, in the shape of rings, but again only that.

It must be quite useful. To change your shape or to produce fire. Even one talent is still a talent to be admired.
They do not have to recite incantations or sell their souls?
[Okay she's mostly joking there.]
