RESIDENCE IN 2,702 Caer Glaem and his watchtower on the Cathraon Plains (and a key to a house in Maupertius, but few people know about that.)
SUMMARY At the beginning of the timeskip, Charles helped the Seelie forces at the Battle of An Càrn Dubh by recreating the image of the fallen dragon Sura and using his telepathy to spread dissent among the Unseelie ranks and dissuade people from fighting. The suffering of the people around him and the extent to which he pushed himself (while using his shard) took a large toll on him, especially when he called out to Erik Lehnsherr for help after being shot.
On the one hand, it encouraged the two mutants to mend a rift they'd only skirted over, which is tied to Charles deeper issues (see: information). On the other, he started to realize that winning in the Drabwurld wasn't going to be quite like what it was back home.
In the following year, Charles focused on socialising and gaining a reasonable amount of influence and power within the Seelie Court. He took on a quest from Lancelot and chased off Unseelie soldiers from the borders of Glaschu. Along with better exploring his telepathy, he was booned astral projection, and in the latter half of the year began to explore the magical potential his shard lent him (which can account for the months that aren't listed below.)
By the end of the timeskip, he'll have finished construction of his watchtower on the Cathraon Plains and will be implementing his skillset to become the spymaster for Marchioness Hermione Granger.
TIMELINE OF EVENTS
SPRING IN 2,701 (Mar, Apr, May) |
- MARCH - Charles helped the search and rescue missions via astral projection and later providing assistance in his physical form.
- APRIL - Thanks to the dream harp, he embarassingly yelled about his feelings to Erik and was grumpy for the rest of the month thanks to everyone's mind yelling EMOTIONS!!! at him.
- MAY - Mostly concerned about the sudden disappearance of the monarchs along with everyone else and hunting with Hermione and Snow White for golden swans.
|
SUMMER IN 2,701 (Jun, Jul, Aug) |
- JUN Charles will be heading along to the Treun tourney to cheer on the friends who are participating.
|
FALL IN 2,701 (Sept, Oct, Nov) |
- OCT - Drinking, dancing and revelry at Samhain.
|
WINTER IN 2,701/2,702 (Dec, Jan, Feb) |

|
SPRING IN 2,702 (Mar, Apr) |
- These months were spent building a watchtower on the Cathraon Plains, including some brief downtime thanks to an attack by the skeletons of warriors past. Thankfully Charles turned that to his advantage.

hunting swans. haha.
So she agrees to come along with him, bow at her back as she travels, though once they get to their spot, she gives him a grin, expectant and teasing all at once.]
Been practicing, I take it?
[She herself has her bow and some more limited magic but the bow is really all she needs. But he was still learning, after all, when she was teaching him the basics before leaving him to practice on the aim.]

[He slides a bag down from the shoulder opposite the one hoisting his quiver and brings out a loaf of white bread.] Let's hope it's more enticing than seeds.
no subject
[There's an almost consiritorial smile at her lips, almost amused but she doesn't tease him for it. After all, the bread could help lure some in when they might otherwise spend ages searching for something to fire at. So she can't really complain there. And it is good to hear he's been practicing.]
So, how far off do you think? If I recall there's a clearing not too far ahead? The more room we have the better. We might not be the only ones with this idea, so I'd like to be careful.
no subject
[He shoots a look at her, joking:] Don't judge me, my PhD is useless here. [Also he suddenly lacks a mansion and an inheritance. As they go he roughly halves the bread with both hands and passes one half over to her.]
I can also try and see if telepathy will work with them. I don't have a lot of practice with animals and I'm not sure if what level of sentience they actually have, what with turning into gold and all.

[Hence she is happy enough to let him attempt this first at least, taking the offered half and breaking off a mouthful to have herself as she considers.]
I think for a lot of people what they knew back home might not necessarily be so applicable here, Charles. You're not the only one. I'm lucky this isn't entirely strange to me after growing up back home in the Enchanted Forest.

I've been here long enough to realise it's not necessarily worse, though. [He begins to pick off bits of bread and scatter it as they walk.] Just different. There was plenty of war and aggression back home. The technology differences are one thing, but then you have magic to compensate. And it's refreshing being in a world where you're not the only one who has some sort of extra-human ability.
[After the bread is finished, he dusts off his hands.] So. Do we need to be down wind, or is that only deer?
no subject
[She helps scatter some bread, leaving a trail of sorts for the swans to follow along with his, considering the question.]
I'm not sure it's as much an issue. So long as we try to be quiet and stay out of sight of them.
no subject
[Snow falls into both categories. He finishes pinching and scattering his half loaf, before scanning the clearing.] Over there? [He points to some heavy brush.] Plenty of coverage.
no subject
[It's something she would probably be equally as wary on if she herself did have any sort of powers. If only to be safe. Though she's glad Charles trusts her enough to be free with her in using it. She turns her head when he points, giving a nod of agreement.]
Yes, there will do just fine. Plenty of cover to keep us hidden.

As they head towards the brush, he slips his bow down and reaches for an arrow, if only to have them at hand if not primed. A few minutes after they're settled, two gold swans swoop down from the sky to peck at their scatterings, soon followed by several more.]
O - [Wait, why is he risking them being heard by the birds. Okay, what now?]

no subject
Already the ailing birds are beginning to change in appearance. One lets off a honking noise, warning the others that something's amiss, which sees Charles pointing to himself and that he'll go one way around the clearing if Snow goes the other.]
no subject
She fires another arrow that hits another of the birds. Another shot doesn't quite hit but catches the webbed foot of one of them, pinning it down. An easier target if Charles notes.]
